SOLVED - Dundee |
Two photos from the Steamtown NHS collection from 7-23-1907 are captioned the [future] Dundee Breaker site. There are no northern field operations in the PA State Mine Inspector Reports for Dundee. The DL&W's Auchinsloss Branch crossed Dundee Road in Hanover Township near the Loomis Breaker. The proposed Dundee Breaker may have been absorbed into the Loomis operation (which started reporting in 1911) before it was built or the Dundee operation may have been renamed for Edward Eugene Loomis (1864-1937), VP of DL&W Coal Co. starting in 1900. Renaming a physical location (Dundee Road) for a high ranking official wouldn’t be out of character for the DL&W.
